On the esplanade of the Palace of Culture in Iași, the 24th edition of the Folk Craftsmen's Fair will take place between May 17-19, 2024. Having already become a traditional cultural event, the fair is organized by the Ethnographic Museum of Moldova, within the National Museum Complex "Moldova" Iași, in partnership with the Iași City Hall and the "ART - Prut Crafts" Association. About 60 folk craftsmen from different ethnographic areas of Romania and the Republic of Moldova will participate. "They support, through their works, the preservation and promotion of crafts, while offering, at the same time, a plea for tradition to the public of all ages," says a press release from the organizers. During the fair, crafts that are still present in traditional culture will be illustrated, such as pottery, woodworking, home industry, folk wear, making folk instruments, dyeing eggs, leathering, fur-making, making folk masks, making icons, ornaments or braids from the sticks times the string. Visitors will be able to purchase traditional objects, but will also be able to participate in demonstrations and interactive activities supported by the craftsmen.
