The Turkish Bath: A Blend of Culture and Architecture

The building is located at 16 G. M. Cantacuzino Street, constructed between 1897 and 1898, is a monumental structure designed in an eclectic style with Oriental influences. It was built on the site of the old Turkish Feredeu, erected during the reign of Prince Vasile Lupu. By the end of the 19th century, the Feredeu had fallen into ruin, prompting officials to demolish it and replace it with a new public bathhouse, featuring an updated architectural design. The current building bears the signature of Italian architect Iginio Vignali, who sought to preserve the decorative language of the old Feredeu and incorporate it into the new Turkish Bath.After nearly 90 years of functioning as a public bath, the building transitioned into a venue for contemporary art events in the early 21st century.
